Skate Boarding

Feeling nostalgic.

I used to skateboard in my youth.

My knees were always covered in scabs or band aids,

I was always bare foot and helmets where unheard of,

even for riding a bike.

I started on a slick plastic board in the late 70's and

bought a fat board in 1980. I could nearly do three

360's, I could tic-tak from one end of Australia to

the other and it was not unheard of for me to drop

of 4ft drops and land with skin intact.

My shorts were board-shorts that never touched

the knees, my t-shirts over large and my hair long.

I was never cool.

Another rough

I start as a consultant to the Tourism Board

today, another rough I'm presenting in the hopes

of making a series of advertising ventures to

bring more folk to Tennant Creeks beautiful

cultural centre and cafe. (The "come in don't

be frightened" catch phrase is hard to see but

it's there.)

So I'm the consultant for the local tourist org'.

My main job is working direct with the marketing

and for promotion of the Warramungu people's art

and culture centre.

I'm trying out some idea roughs for posters,

this is one.

The catchphrase is theirs, an Aboriginals people's

"Just Do It!".

Bullies...don't ya' love em'. I was third from the

bottom of the bulling ladder at school but the

other two were better hider's then me.

Not jumping in an art museum.

Who is this girl. Is she really not in an art

museum jumping?

I'm not a cook anymore...yeah I know,

changing careers like undies'. I now work

for the local Arts, Cultural and Tourist Org'

as a consultant.

...Canadian celeb' apparently. I was surfing

other blogs (as I do) when I found a fella' who

does these great caricatures so I got inspired

and drew one. The main prob' is I don't know

who this person is... I just thought she was

pretty.

Hhm...

...this drawing initially took as long as the one

below it, about a minute. Its the colouring in

that takes the most time, half hour.

I did some touch ups on this face that pushed

my actually sketch time to a full minute and a half.

Cartooning detachment...my forteau. Stupid

doodles drawn at a blistering pace with no

forethought or image held in mind. Less than a

minute to draw and about 5min to colour.

Blue Framed Glasses.

I have resigned from the publican position at
the Hotel in anticipation of working with the
local tourist org'.
I'm now the cook.
S (my gorgeous wife) has resigned as well and
starts her first yoga class on Monday as a fully
qualified "Australian" Yoga instructor.
The drawing above has absolutely nothing to do
with any of this.
